Digital: These computers process information represented by combination of numbers. It performs sequence of mathematical and logical operations.
These are also called general purpose computers.
Analogue: This type of computers use electronic circuit to represent physical process. They process information represented by combination of continuous data such as velocity, time, temperature. These are special purpose computers.
Hibrid : This type of computer is a combination of analogue and digital computer. This is able to use the advantages of both machines. There are also many types of computers like mini computers, micro computers. super computers.
There are five generations of computers by their evolution,
First generation computers were more large in size. They very slow and their price was very high. Vacuum tubes are used in these computers. Transistors were used in second generation computers instead of vacuumv tubes, They were small. speedy and more reliable than the first generation computers.

Third generation computer more speedy and Small than the second generation computers, because IC chips were used in the computers.
Fourth generation computers had large scale integrated circuits and they were very fast. Now a days are using the fifth generation computers. They use very large scale integrated circuits also called micro processors. The concept of artificial intelligence has used in these computers. Super computers fall in this category.
Now we are passing through the age of information technology. Computer has great influence on our daily life. Computer is being used in every field of our daily life. The concept of cyber world, internet and Information technology has revolutionized our life. As know that computer is a fast electronic device which is being used very effectively in every purpose of our daily life. Computers are being used in banks because it can manage accounts transaction automatically. It is being used in scientific research. It has made the research very easy. It is being used in space research.
It has a great influence on chemical and biological research also. The scientists are solving many problems by using computers. Computer has become multi-purpose device now a days. We can use our computer as a movie player. Compact disk has changed the previous concept of computer. Children and teenagers are also very interested in computer. Children are getting much entertainment by using computers and video games .Computer has become so advance that now we can perform multiple operations at a time.
There are advantages as well as disadvantages of using computers.
They also mechanize our life too much. We begin using our minds less and Less, and begin depending on machines more and more. Children play games too much. Games surely waste their time. This is harmful to our sight. The use of internet is increasing tremendously, even children are using internet frequently, which is not good for the developing mind of a child, because there are many amoral and obscene sights on internet. Which is very bad for a child. Internet and games are keeping away the children from study.
