The life of a Policeman

The life of a Policeman

A policeman is a useful public servant. He is the backbone of administration. Without him, no government can run. He is a well known public figure. He is often seen dressed in militia uniform with a blue cap on his head and black leather belt round his waist. An ordinary policeman is not highly educated.

The life of a policeman is a bed of thorns. His duty is very difficult. He has to perform manifold duties. His first duty is to keep law and order in the city. He keeps an eye on offenders, law breakers and evil doers. He protects the life and property of peace loving citizens. This he does sometimes at the risk of his own life.
At dead of night, he is seen patrolling through the streets and main bazars of the city. He is a terror for the criminals and wicked people. Thieves and evil doers are afraid of him.

As a traffic constable, he is seen controlling the traffic. It is at the single movement of his hand that the traffic stops and comes to close. If a Person violates law, he is challenged and insulted. At public meetings, he prevents hooliganism. His job is very difficult. He is there to ensure peace. Sometimes, he has to resort to lathi charge. His life is always in danger. The wayward crowd stones and brick bats him.

He has to perform the duties of security agent also. When some foreign dignitary, President or Premier of a country visits us, his tasj becomes very difficult. He has to ensure the safety of the foreign dignitary. He also investigates the crimes and assists the court. He produces the law breakers before the court of law. He has to make surprise raids at many places and chase criminals.
He fights against social evils like black marketing, smuggling and adulteration. Thus we see that his duties are manifolds and he has to devote day and servant but behaves like a master. He is not respected by the people. His figure inspires dread and fear in the people.

The job of a policeman can be made effective if his salary is increased and his working hours are reduced. He mus be taken to task if he violtaes law and commits torture on the poor innocent citizens. He must be properly educated.A dishonest and inefficient policeman must be dismissed from service. An honest and hardworking policeman must be rewarded fully.

He is constant source of trouble to villagers, tongawalas and students. He addresses the people in a harsh and uncivilized language. He is a public  night to perform these duties.

It is a pity the he is not fully rewarded for his hard task. His pay is very small. That is why, he has to accept bribe to meet the expenses of his  Family. He does not have ample time to look after his children. His wife and children always complain of his lack of attention. In Pakistan, an ordinary policeman is the least educated person. He knows no courtesy no politeness and shows no sympathy to the people in distress. He tortures the innocent and lets go the guilty. He does not uphold the rule of law and equity.
